EXT. LOCATIONS

The look of the exterior world should contrast the glossy, high-end fashion world.

The look of the exterior scenes is URBAN DECAY.

The biggest reference for this is the film KILLER OF SHEEP

Asha's Photo Shoot Look

Asha basically becomes the new Hottentot Venus in this film.

The visual references are obviously: Saarja Bartman, Josephine Baker and all the video vixens/half-naked female entertainers you can think of.

She is "Africanized" and therefore fetishized. Ideas for looks:

Crowns and Dreams Promo Pics Ideas

Asha/Crashonda, sits in an old antique looking chair with plastic and homemade crowns all around her.

In some shots she looks comfortable with the crowns, in other shots she seems unsure, expressionless, pensive.

The look is somewhat dark and fashionable.

Portfolio Look: Natural beautiful, no emphasis on sexuality.

{A look similar to these for main portfolio pic}

Randy- metrosexual (possibly gay)photographer:

Monica- No- nonsense,former model

Monica would wear business casual pants, but they must show off her fabulous figure. She would also show a little skin. Think shoulders, back, cleavage.

The Meaning...

Crowns and Dreams follows Asha, a young aspiring model, as she is forced to choose between her sense of self worth and the crass reality of the modeling world. Along the way, an innocent little girl helps her find her way.

This film explores the ways in which black female sexuality is represented in the fashion and entertainment world today and links these representations to past images of black women's bodies as hyper-sexualized tools of subjugation and dehumanization.

MEET THE STAR!
